LENI: DEVELOPMENT OF A LEAST COST ELECTRIFICATION TOOL

In order to fulfil the needs of electrification and microgrids projects, a software tool called LENI (Least cost ElectrificatioN decIsion support tool) has been developed by EIFER and EDF R&D. The ultimate goal of LENI is to evaluate the electrification solution for local areas (up to 10 000 km²) that is considering an optimal compromise between different technical, economic and geographical criteria between grid extension, microgrid or Solar Home System (SHS). Based on a geographic approach with open source data, the key principles and functionalities of this tool are presented. A first simulation aiming at resolving electrotechnical constraints using a dedicated electrical network sizing module is introduced.
