Design Review of a Solar PV Mini-Grid for Sustainable Rural Electrification

Electricity is a vital driver of economic development and stability, yet access to electricity remains a distant hope for most of the people living in the remote areas of developing nations. The deployment of mini-grids ensures a distributed generation of power within the community. The design of such system must therefore be able to sustain the provision of electricity for all times taking into consideration of the growth in development that electricity brings into the community provides. This paper therefore seeks to review the existing design using Homer energy software with a view to provide solutions to noticeable lapses to accommodate future expansion for a sustainable rural electrification.
