Voltage Stability of the Power System using Genetic Algorithm: A Review

Planning and operations of interconnected power system has become difficult in a deregulated framework. This is primarily associated with increasing load demand. Voltage instability stemmed as one of the major causes of the black out in the operation of power grid under a restructured environment. Consequently, to mitigate the effect and maintain security, appropriate steps to strengthen power system performance through improved voltage stability can be planned. This paper presents the reviews of several GA-base solutions to the voltage instability problem and its improvement through reactive power compensations, FACTs devices and load flow solutions.
