Study on Ship Collision Risk Assessment and Anti-Collision Scheme of Cross-sea Bridges

To clarify the ship collision risk level and anti-collision ability of a cross-sea bridge, static and dynamic finite element (FE) models are established to analyze the anti-collision ability of the pier. The three-parameter model is used to analyze the short-term and long-term ship collision risks of the bridge. Based on the analysis results, the fortified standard and flexible anti-collision scheme of the bridge are proposed. Besides, the reliability of the connection between segments is also investigated. The results reveal that: (1) the transition pier and the first-span approach pier are at high risk and have insufficient anti-collision capability; (2) The connection is the most critical position under oblique collision. The peak dynamic tensile force of the connection under ship collision is 1.26 MN while the quasi-static tensile bearing capacity is 3.71 MN, and the tensile force is less than the tensile bearing capacity at any time.
