Effect of DSTS and HVDC on Multi-Area AGC System Considering BSA Optimized 2DOF-TID Controller

This article highlights the study of the integration of DSTS in three-area automatic generation control (AGC) system. Area-1, 2, and 3 employed with thermal and DSTS units. A novel controller named by 2DOF-TID is used for the first time in three area thermal-DSTS system, and their parameter are simultaneously optimized using a Bird Swarm Algorithm (BSA). The responses of 2DOF-TID controller are compared and are found to be better over TID and PID controller. Moreover, the system dynamics performances are analyzed with DSTS under the fixed and random insolation condition and studies reveals that the system shows batter dynamics with DSTS under fixed insolation. Further, the system performance is analyzed with ACHVDC tie-line and is found to be superior over AC tie-line. Furthermore, sensitivity analysis suggests that the proposed 2DOF-TID at nominal conditions is robust.
