A Threshold-based Scheduling and Power Control Design on IMT-2020 Evaluation

Evaluating the International Mobile Telecommunications-2020 (IMT-2020) system is crucial for developing the entire communication system, including downlink and uplink. The base station (BS) schedules the time-frequency resource based on different reference signals reported by the user equipment (UE). In this paper, considering the real system situation, we propose two methods for the base station to decide how to deal with the different types of UEs. The proposed strategies include a UE-type determination and a power control policy. These strategies were built in a system-level simulator and evaluated with numerical results. The proposed method shows a performance gain and also meets the performance requirements of the IMT-2020 evaluation.
