Design and Development of Mobile Handset Antenna for Optimum SAR for Mobile Communication System

The increase in daily average use of mobile phones has it's ramifications on biological systems. Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) evaluates mobile phones’ safety limits and is measured in W/Kg. In this paper, we have designed an antenna working on GSM 900 technology using the ANSYS HFSS simulation software. We are following the FCC standard. The SAR reduction methods, including the Water-based walls, conducting walls, and the EBG structure, are implemented on the antenna using ANSYS HFSS. Comparative interpretation of each of these methods to limit the RF exposure is studied further in this project. These results can help design the mobile communication equipment with optimum SAR below the SAR limit.
