Comparative Study of PI Control and Model Predictive Control for Power Converters with LC Filter

Model predictive control (MPC) is a very attractive method for controlling power electronic inverter. This article mainly studies the MPC for power inverter with LC filter, and contrast it with the conventional proportional integral linear control strategy. The three key elements of proposed MPC strategy are determined by building mathematical equations, namely predictive model, cost function and algorithm. Comparative simulation was studied, which proofs the availability of the used MPC approaches for power inverter with LC filter.
