Design and Implementation of Virtual Sanxian Teaching System

In recent years, with the development of human-computer interaction technology and the increasing emphasis on musical education, more and more digital technologies have been applied to facilitate musical instrument teaching and learning. However, most of current studies were focused on digitalization of some popular instruments (e.g., piano, guitar), the interactive systems for traditional musical instruments were rarely involved, which may impede the inheritance of traditional musical instruments. In this study, started from the gamified learning theory, an desktop-VR based system was designed for learning Chinese Sanxian (a traditional musical instrument), with the interaction of mouse and keyboard. A preliminary acceptance evaluation of the virtual instrument teaching system was conducted and analyzed.
