Design and Implementation of a Novel Low Cost Self-Powered Weather Monitoring Station

Modern scientific research of various types like ecological, archaeological, and ageing of out stationed materials often greatly assisted by a detailed data log of weather conditions maintained over a period of time. At times, these research study need to be conducted at remote locations for extended periods. Monitoring and analyzing various parameters of weather in remote locations such as proposed sites of renewable energy plants are much essential in the modern era. A weather monitoring system typically requires a few basic steps, including a display, sensors, and a microcontroller. An economic and reliable, self-powered weather monitoring equipment with power back up by Lithiumion battery bank is proposed in this work. It can operate remotely and store various parameters of weather along with time. The various parameters like wind speed, direction, temperature, humidity and pressure are measured using suitable sensors and stored in a micro secure digital memory card. The proposed system for weather prediction gives a reliable solution for installing small and mini renewable power stations. The reliability on small wind turbines will be increased as the remote wind turbulent areas may be utilized. The option of manufacturing similar systems will enhance the economy of small renewable energy systems.
