Overview of RFID Security and its Applications

This review paper is based on Radio Frequency Identification technology(RFID), reviewing the security aspect of RFID and its application. RFID technology has a wide range of applications such as Logistics & Supply Chain Visibility, Race Timing, Transportation Payments, and much more. RFID security will be explained in detail with an elaborate explanation of its advantages and disadvantages. The attacks to which RFID systems are vulnerable such as eavesdropping, cloning can be prevented by techniques such as Kill codes, mutual authentication etc. Real-time application using RFID is explored and compared with the application where it is operated without RFID to recognize the advantages of RFID technology. The limitations of RFID are also presented in this paper, especially on the security concerns of it.
