Analytical Model Based Fault Diagnosis of Complex System: A Review

With the rapid development of science and technology in the world, major equipment involved in various fields, such as aviation, aerospace, vehicles, ships, and communications, has become increasingly complex and expensive. Due to the complicated and varied operation environments, the performance and reliability of complicated systems inevitably degrade, which can lead to unexpected failures. The unexpected failures of complicated systems will often result in economic losses or even casualties. It is particularly important to improve the safety, reliability, and economy of complicated systems. To this end, Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) technology was proposed and has become a research hotspot. As an important method of PHM, the analytical model-based diagnosis (AMBD) method has been widely used in the safety detection and fault diagnosis (FD) of complicated systems. This paper mainly describes the basic concept, role, and application fields of AMBD methods, analyzes the research status of several main technologies, and looks forward to the future development trend.
