IoT Enabled Cost-Effective Integrated Industrial Automation For FMCG Industry

Each industry aims to improve efficiency and decrease production costs. Small manufacturers struggle to survive and prosper due to the competition from large Multinational Corporations (MNC’s). The main reason behind this is the lack of automation and the high cost of modern technologies. The aim is to design and implement an integrated and automated prototype of Industrial Automation for the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry. The proposed prototype monitors the manufacturing process in great detail. It results in low operational costs, manual mistakes, and product damage. With increased demand to meet ever-changing consumer needs, the Internet of Things (IoT) enables businesses to become more flexible and proactive in seeking new revenue streams and business models. It can shift the conventional approach to spending capital on designing, building, maintaining, and updating respective infrastructures for several unlinked services. The real-time simulation of the Industrial Automation system shown in our developed work produced the desired results. Power and area optimization is also done while executing the design on a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). The proposed design uses 11 slices of Look Up Tables (LUTs), all of which are utilized as logic LUTs. There are 10 slice registers used, 7 of which are latch registers and 3 of which are flip flop registers. Moreover, the design consumes 0.25W of power. Due to the utilisation of very less power the design is effectively very cost efficient in the long run.
