Design of a Powered Multi-Tracked Stair Climbing Carrier with Loading Capability into Automobiles

The desire to be independent coupled with the adverse impacts of having led a sedentary life has put many people at risk while attempting their day-to-day activities. One such activity that has dire consequences on the human body is lifting heavy bags of groceries or goods up the staircases of their homes. With rapid urbanization at the cost of increasing standard of living, it is commonplace to see apartments and houses lacking elevators or similar facilities. The common practice, therefore, is to overload bags and try to transport all the luggage at once to avoid repeated trips. This process of carrying goods from the market to home is rather inefficient, time-consuming, and in need of innovation. The proposed solution in this paper suggests a semi-automated luggage carrier design that behaves like a normal trolley in a supermarket, can ascend and descend staircases and is easily loadable in an automobile. The functionality of the product requires minimal user effort, and it ensures the safety of goods.
