Bandwidth Boost Method of Current Control for Servo Motor Drives with Current Observer

The purpose of this paper is to propose a bandwidth boost method of current control loop for servo motor drives. The proposed method is to improve the time delay of feedback loop using current observer and redesigning the current controller when time delay improvement is considered. Comparing that of current observer method, the proposed method can significantly boost the bandwidth of current control. The Sigma-Delta ADC by Sinc3 filter is used for current feedback to intensify the precision and noise immunity. A dual-core controller, consisting of DSP and FPGA, is used for the implementation of the proposed bandwidth boost method. Experimental and simulation results will be presented to fully support the claims.
