Car Engines Diagnostics based on the Evaluation of the Mutual Wavelet Dependency

The technology of car engine diagnostics based on the usage of the mutual wavelet dependency between vibroacoustic signals of their individual components is proposed. The main stages and methods of car diagnostics are analyzed and the advantages of diagnostics based on vibroacoustic signals are given. The engine diagnostics algorithm is developed on the calculation of broadband mutual wavelet function (BMWF) in the wavelet domain. The usability of the algorithm is confirmed by simulation in Matlab R2018b environment. Additionally, NoSQL database to store engine characteristics and web application for database access and editing are provided. The technology proposed increases the efficiency of car powertrain diagnostics due to less time consumption and higher precision of engine components malfunction detection, and, what is more, has a possibility of implementation for other engine types.
