Microgrid Online Estimation for the Power Flow Solution in Distribution Systems

Given the penetration of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) in power systems, this paper proposes a methodology that allows for the simplification of the Microgrids model over the Point-of-Common-Coupling - PCC for simulation of load flow in distribution systems, which favors tools for the planning and operation of electrical networks. To validate the proposed methodology, a Software application was developed, in which measurements are taken from a cloud server and the online data are integrated to consider existing conditions in the generation and the load. The applicability of the web services and the Information and Communication Technologies (ITC) for the simulation of electrical networks is identified as an advantage of the proposed methodology. This allows to adopt an equivalent block to simplify the Microgrids model based in the existing conditions. In addition, the integration of ITC should consider topics as cybersecurity and interoperability, this paper presents concepts and standards associated to these topics. The present work presents a literature review about methods for distribution networks simulation in steady state, and the selection of strategies to simulate Microgrids. The proposed methodology relates the optimal power flow concept to consider the optimal dispatch and its applicability on the equivalent behavior in the tertiary control of the Microgrids.
