Correction of Viterbi output error events via a combined product code with interleaver and hard-decision decoding

A new coding technique is proposed for detecting and correcting the majority of the Viterbi Algorithm (VA) error events via postprocessing. The outer code offers higher rates and significant coding gain, while it is characterized by the low computational complexity of a hard decision decoding scheme.
