A New Respiratory Rate Sensing Principle Based on Magnetic Amorphous Wire Microtransformers

The paper presents the construction, operation and some experimental data obtained for a respiratory rate sensor. The operation principle is based on the voltage induced in a detection coil mounted around a ferromagnetic core made of magnetic amorphous wire of small size and high permeability. The output quantity is the frequency of this voltage, that depends on the width of an air gap which changes with respiratory rate.
