Assessment of Dental Students’ Knowledge about SarS-CoV-2 Infection through an Online Questionnaire

This study assessed the knowledge of 86 dental students and the risks of transmitting the SarS-CoV-2 virus during the practical work, through an anonymous questionnaire. Statistical processing was done in SPSS 26.0. The students’ knowledge about the mode of transmission (45.3% of students) and the methods of diagnosis (34.9% of students) were better than knowing the symptoms (4.7% of students) and the treatment (2.3% of students) for SarS-CoV-2 infection, protection and prevention during dental practice. The study revealed minimal knowledge and vulnerability of dental students regarding the possibility of becoming infected and transmitting the virus during practical work with the patient. It is also suggested to rethink dental practice by approaching virtual technologies in obtaining clinical skills to avoid contact with the patient during the COVID-19 pandemic.
