Verification of the Thermal Model of an Asynchronous Traction Motor

When designing electrical machines, it becomes necessary to intensify the cooling of its active parts in order to reduce the heating of the winding in the most loaded operating modes. Most of the research in the field of modeling thermal processes relates to asynchronous machines, there is a limited number of works devoted to traction motors. The development of high-precision thermal models of electrical machines and the study of thermal processes using these models is an urgent task. In this regard, the work carried out the verification of thermal models of an asynchronous traction motor with a squirrel-cage copper rotor, implemented in the Ansys Motor-CAD package for continuous and intermittent operating modes. The simulation results are compared with the experimental data obtained at the stand.
