Losses analysis of HTS racetrack coil carrying a distorted sinusoidal current

This work describes experimental results of losses measurements in a 2G HTS coil carrying AC current. For the purposes of this article, AC current is a distorted sinusoidal current. One higher harmonic is added to the frequency of 50 Hz: the third (150 Hz) or the fifth (250 Hz) of different amplitude. Thus, a set of signals with different levels of harmonic distortion (THD) is formed. The losses are analyzed and compared for several THD's both by the current and by the amplitude values of the currents.
