Optimizing interference situations in IEEE 802.11-systems using Context-information

The digitalization of manufacturing processes is leading to a highly increased amount of connected devices. In the course of this development a process was developed and implemented, which optimizes IEEE 802.11-systems relating to the interference situation by using Context-information. This was realized by division into two fields. First of all, each so called provider calculates his own interference situation to determine the optimal frequency out of the ascertained data. In this case optimal means that the chosen channel should have the lowest interference power. Afterwards these Contextinformation will be transferred to a central space. Additional a system for safety-critical information is implemented. An already existing Context-Broker is used as initial point for the further process. Each provider is allocated to an entity-type. In this paper entity-types symbolizeWiFi access-points. The Context-Broker should serve as a data storage. In the second field a so called consumer is allocated to each entity-type. As soon as the provider has transferred new data, the broker informs this consumer. The consumer determines the optimal frequency for the particular entity out of the ascertained data. Concluding this determined frequency is transferred to the particular access-point as a recommendation.
