Effect of fiber materials on tensile properties of remolded red clay

At present, there are few studies on the tensile strength of red clay mixed with fiber materials. Since it is difficult to determine the tensile strength of red clay by direct tensile test, the research aims to study the effect of fiber materials on the tensile strength of remolded red clay. During the test, the particle size, compaction state and moisture content index of test block soil in each group were unified to eliminate the influence of the above factors on the tensile strength. Through the double-punch test, the effects of fiber length and content on the tensile strength of remolded red clay were studied. The following conclusions are obtained: when the content of jute and corrugated polypropylene fiber is 1%, the tensile strength does not increase significantly. When the content of jute and corrugated polypropylene fiber is 3% - 5%, the tensile strength is improved. The test results have certain reference value for the study of tensile strength characteristics of red clay. Based on it, reasonable suggestions can be put forward for the proportion and specification of additional materials in the reconstruction or local reinforcement of rural rammed earth walls.
