In-situ seepage deformation testing method for shear zones

Seepage deformation and failure characteristics of the shear zone in the dam site area of the Guxian hydro-junction in the Yellow River were studied through in-situ and indoor seepage deformation tests. The test results are as follows: the shear zone permeability coefficient and the critical gradient were obtained. In terms of the overall failure degree of the shear band during the test, the osmotic failure degree of the cleavage zone (shear fracture zone) in the shear band is lower, and the osmotic failure degree of the argillization zone (muddled intercalation zone) is higher, which has a great influence on the overall structure of the shear zone. The test results can provide a strong basis for engineering design calculations. In addition, the shear zone permeability deformation process is divided into four stages, which can provide a reference for future studies on the permeability deformation of adverse geological bodies such as shear zones.
