Study on the cantilever water retaining problem of the unsealed arch dam section during arch dam construction

In this paper, the cantilever water retaining problem of the unsealed arch dam section during the construction period of arch dam is studied. Taking an arch dam as an example, considering factors such as self-weight load, temperature load, water pressure load, autogenous volume deformation and creep of concrete, the influence of cantilever water retaining of temporary section on the stress, deformation and opening of transverse joints of the dam during the construction period is studied by using the whole dam process simulation analysis method. The results show that under the conditions of pouring schedule, grouting schedule and flood level in front of the dam, The cantilever stress of the dam meets the requirement. The cantilever water retaining makes the radial deformation of the dam body change from upstream deformation caused by inverted suspension to downstream deformation mainly caused by water pressure. The cantilever water retaining makes the transverse joints of the unsealed arch part tend to be compressed. Considering the age of the cantilever water retaining, the dam body is generally in the elastic stage, and the opening of the transverse joints can basically return to the original state after the release of water load.
