Estimation of the thermal parameters of SCC and rockfill for rock-filled concrete

The accuracy of input thermal parameters can greatly improve the reliability of temperature stress simulation. Field prototype experiment was conducted to obtain the material parameters of self-compacting concrete (SCC) and the temperature distribution of rockfill. Based on the theoretical derivation, the placement temperature of SCC and the thermal conductivity of rockfill can be estimated by data inversion. The results show that: (1) The placement temperature of SCC is mainly determined by the temperature of raw materials and is also influenced by the transport process. The values of SCC placement temperature calculated by the theoretical model agree well with the measured ones. (2) The thermal conductivity of the rockfill, which is assumed as an equivalent rock, can b estimated by the temperature difference with depth. The study of the monitored data can provide a rough reference for the further study of the heat transfer mechanism between the SCC and rockfill.
