Application of Cloud Computing for the Development of Big Data

Big data is commonly used to extract meaningful insights for business decision making. While it presents a lot of opportunities, it is also posing numerous challenges, particularly in storage, processing and analytics. Cloud computing which is an emerging technology has assisted in the development of big data by providing the necessary features on storage, computational and networking. This paper will discuss the ways in how big data can be harnessed through cloud computing platforms using the cloud's traits, features and resources. Meanwhile, a review of three different cloud providers’ services for big data analytics is provided. Last but not least, the potential challenges of using cloud computing for big data analytics are presented along with the recommendations.
