Discharge Characteristics of Fusion Plasma Jet Array and its Influencing Factors

The downstream uniformity of the atmospheric-pressure plasma jet (APPJ) array is a key technical problem with regard to large-scale applications nowadays. However, as the only array that can achieve large uniform plasma action area currently, the discharge characteristics and its influencing factors of the fusion plasma jet array have not been fully studied. In order to solve this problem, this article studies the discharge characteristics of the fusion APPJ array under different parameters, obtains its discharge mode conversion patterns and conversion characteristics, and thus the parameter conditions for achieving the diffused discharge mode. Finally, the influence of the thickness of the discharge dielectric tube and the inner diameter of the secondary tube on the discharge characteristics of the fusion APPJ array is studied. Results show that increasing the voltage amplitude and gas flow rate will both cause the discharge mode of the fusion plasma jet array to experience a conversion from starting discharge to diffused discharge mode to filament discharge mode. For the array with the thickness of the discharge dielectric tube of 1 mm and the inner diameter of the secondary tube of 20 mm, when the gas flow rate is between 1.6 and 2.8 L/min, the array can achieve the diffused discharge mode; reducing the thickness of the discharge dielectric tube will cause the gas flow rate under the diffused discharge mode to decrease; changing the inner diameter of the secondary tube hardly affects the parameter interval distribution of the discharge modes. The results of this article may provide a theoretical foundation for achieving large-scale plasma jet source.
