Prediction of Air Pollution Levels in Makassar City Area

According to the data provided by the Environmental Agency of South Sulawesi Province in 2020, it is stated that the air of Makassar city was the most polluted among the other regions in the province. One of the influential factors is from a massive growth of motor vehicles in Makassar that ends up at 7 % per year. This condition is very concerning since the pollutants produced by motor vehicles such as carbon monoxide (Co), nitrogen oxide (NOx), hydrocarbon (HC), sulfur dioxide (SO2), lead (Pb) and carbon dioxide (CO2) are extremely harmful to human health. Therefore it is necessary to have a smart system that can predict the level of air pollution in the future so that citizens who carry out their activities outdoors the next day should not feel worried as they have already received the information about the level of air pollution. In addition, the information on air quality can also be used as a reference for the government to review their policies related to the regulation and restriction on the number of motor vehicles. This study employs five categories, that is, Good, Moderate, Unhealthy, Very Unhealthy, And Hazardous, by means of the same formula as in the calculation on obtaining the accuracy level of Good label which in this case is carried out in 10 times of experiments. The accuracy result of prediction system for the level of air pollution is based on the day that corresponds to the microcontroller measurement using Naive Bayes classifier algorithm by 76%
