Image Enhancement of Infant’s Fingerprints

Biometrics are used to assign identity of a person using his physiological and behavioral information. Not only adults, even infants also need biometrics identity. Such information are used to obtain vaccinations, healthcare, immunization and nutritional supplements for the infants. In this study, we evaluated the image enhancement of infant fingerprint using Gabor filter and Localized Fast Fourier Transform. The experimental results showed that the Gabor filter outperformed the Localized FFT in term of fingerprint image quality with better quality improvement.
