A systematic approach for effective location of series compensation to increase available transfer capability

Suggested network reinforcements to increase the available transfer capability of an interconnected power system include series compensation of transmission lines. In this paper, a methodology for the identification of the critical transmission lines with respect to voltage stability issues is proposed. The methodology is applied on the CIGRE 33-bus test system.
