Nonlinear Scattering of Narrowband and Ultra- Wideband Signals at Equal Peak Intensity

The nonlinear scattering of an RF -pulse and an ultra-wideband monocycle is compared on an example of the model consist in the short magnetic dipole and the diode. The scatterer model is built in the form of an electrical equivalent circuit and reflects the SPICE parameters of the diode, the inductance of the magnetic dipole, and the differentiating properties of the dipole due to its short length. The studies were carried out at equal peak power of the sounding signals and with equal frequencies of the amplitude spectra maximum. The nonlinearity of scattering for an RF -pulse was determined by the second harmonic, and for an ultra-wideband pulse - from the difference of the responses to two pulses with different polarity. For both the low- and high-capacitance diode, it is shown that the amplitude of the nonlinear scattering products for the ultrawideband signal is one to two orders of magnitude greater than for RF -pulse signal. This will give a corresponding increase in the detection range of the nonlinear radar only due to the transition to the baseband pulse nonlinear radar principle.
