Research and Achieve 3D Simulation System of Contour Extraction

Extracting contour lines from regular elevation grid is an important function of GIS. Due to the influence of satellite image resolution and contour extraction algorithm, automatic contour extraction is difficult to be applied and visualized in production. Based on the third-party GDAL library, DEM elevation data can be directly interpolated into contour vector data, but there are errors in the conversion results. In this paper, an improved contour extraction algorithm is proposed. Based on osgeearth, a contour 3D simulation system is constructed, and the algorithm is integrated in the system to realize the automatic extraction and rendering of contours in any area of 3D digital scene. The experimental results show that the contour extracted by the improved algorithm is consistent with the actual terrain.
