Special Shape Directional Pattern Synthesis Based on Antenna with a Comb Reflector

Antennas with specialized directional patterns are in high demand in modern radio engineering systems. The practical implementation of special directional patterns based on aperture and, in particular, mirror antennas entails transforming the mirror profile, which can result in extremely complex configurations. At the same time, in a mirror antenna with a comb reflector, making a special directional pattern requires the correct choice of the groove depths that are short-circuited slits by the form and are periodically placed in the conducting screen. To synthesize a cosecant directional pattern based on an antenna with a comb reflector, the authoring computational algorithm is applied. The algorithm includes the interpolation of the amplitude-phase front of the electromagnetic wave produced by the antenna feed by the locally flat fragments and the use of a strict solution to the problem of screen slit diffraction of a plane wave with a bounded front in space. To determine the groove depths, a genetic algorithm and a criterion for the minimum standard deviation of the calculated directional pattern from the expected one are used. The results of the synthesis of a cosecant directional pattern in a wide angular sector based on an antenna with an optimized comb reflector are presented.
