Investigation on Nitrogen Oxides Decomposition System

Increasing awareness of environmental protection and increasingly stringent environmental laws have led to more bans being imposed on exhaust emissions in the manufacturing industry. Accordingly, this study developed a ceramic plate-type ozone generator (CPOG) integrated with a harmful gas decomposition system to decompose nitrogen oxides. The proposed CPOG comprises two parts: the circuit architecture and oxygen supply. The circuit architecture consists of an alternating-current source, standby power supply, electromagnetic interference filter, power factor corrector circuit, full-bridge parallel resonant inverter, full-bridge gate driver, and ceramic plate. As for the oxygen supply, air passes through an oxygen machine, which supplies oxygen to the ceramic plate. A micro discharge is then generated in the ceramic plate and contributes to the formation of ozone. The harmful gas decomposition system contains an air pump, CPOG, exhaust fan, spray machine, water storage bucket, spray washing bucket, and nitrogen oxide analyzer. The system mechanism draws harmful gases into the spray washing bucket, mixes it evenly with ozone and water spray, and tests for the presence of harmful gases at the gas outlet. In the nitrogen oxide decomposition experiment, 3, 6, or 9 incense sticks were used to produce nitrogen oxide gas, which was then efficiently decomposed through the combined use of ozone and water spray, thereby mitigating the nitrogen oxide emission problems in the manufacturing industry.
