Dynamic Polarization Manipulation in Graphene-Based Metasurface

Recently, a series of microwave metasurfaces that are based on graphene have been developed rapidly, showing excellent performances in manipulating electromagnetic waves. However, controlling the polarization of microwaves has not been realized in graphene-based metasurfaces until now. In this paper, We present an active metasurface based on graphene to realize tunable polarization at microwave frequencies. Simulated results demonstrate that when a linear-polarized incident waves normally illuminates the proposed metasurface, the polarization angle of the reflected wave can be dynamically controlled by shifting the Fermi level of graphene. This work offers an novel approach of graphene-based device in the manipulation of the microwave polarization and has potential applications in antenna, sensing and communications.
