Application of an Optical Sensor for Fracture and Chips Control on Metal Surfaces

The article considers the possibility of using a reflectometric optical sensor to control cracks in metal reflective surfaces. The results of modeling the influence of crack sizes on the sensor's conversion function are given, as well as the results of experimental studies of the sensor layout. The influence of non-informative parameters on the conversion function is analyzed, and variants of the sensor structure, in which the influence of non-informative parameters is reduced, are proposed. It is concluded that optical sensors can be used to control cracks in reflective surfaces.
