The Role of Industry Electronic Dictionaries in the Process of Teaching University Students

Dictionaries are always the most important source of knowledge about the language and about the world, since they implement the cumulative function of the language. In connection with the development of information technology, the type of dictionaries is also changing. They are increasingly moving to electronic formats. This is due to both new advantages and some difficulties in their compilation and use. In this regard, several tasks arise in the field of education: first, the need to describe high-quality vocabulary-type resources; secondly, to identify the existing gaps in this area and outline ways to fill them; thirdly, to include training in the use of electronic dictionaries in professional activities in the training of specialists. The authors of the article research these problems and propose ways to solve them in training future specialists in the field of railway transport, using the experience of pedagogical and publishing activities.
