Design of an Optimum Solar PV Generation System for Integrated loads using PVSYST Software

, solar PV is a very good option for power generation in Bangladesh. After monsoon season that ends in the month of October, the dry season runs from November to April. Abundant sunlight is available during these dry season months specially from mid-February to Mid April During this time, solar insolation is at the peak which can be well utilized for PV based irrigation purpose. Normally, Boro paddy is cultivated from Mid-November to Mid-March. Due to scarcity of rain for the period, plenty of water is required for irrigation of rice and other winter crops and vegetables. From February, ambient temperature gradually increases and the demand for electricity also increases. Due to high demand of electricity, grid network voltage decreases. Sometimes, this dip in voltage is so high that the electrically driven pumps cannot run due to low voltage and in many cases electric motors burn out due to extremely low voltage and gross negligence of the electricians responsible for the maintenance of these pump-motor sets. In this paper, the authors have suggested an optimum solar PV system connected to an integrated loads of solar irrigation, local loads through nano grid and also supplying loads to the grid network. As irrigation is required only for four months, the power allotted to the irrigation system may be diverted to the grid after the season for irrigation is over. This will bring down the cost of energy calculated for the integrated system. Such integrated system has been analyzed in this paper and the optimum cost of energy for the system has been ensured. A sample area in the district of Rajshahi, Bangladesh has been chosen to irrigate 1338.5 m
²
of land during the dry season. At the same time, the panel size on the same structure has been increased to supply power to the local load through a transmission line and fed to the grid network as well. The purpose of such arrangements is to bring down the cost of energy. In Bangladesh, there are roughly 20,000 solar PV driven pumps which are normally used for irrigation during the dry season only. For rest of the months, other than dry season, the output power from these panels remains unutilized. The models proposed in this paper can be very effectively applied in all the installed solar PV driven pumps to augment power generation for the network. The proposed model has been analyzed through PVSYST software.
