Planar and Low-consumption Switchable Filter Banks with Tunable Passband and Stopband Responses

This paper presents the first experimental results of planar and low-consumption switchable stopband and passband filter banks. The channels are based on microstrip reconfigurable filters with wide tuning range. The devices are properly designed for wideband applications in the range of 2GHz÷18GHz and DC÷18GHz. The Switchable and tunable sub-bands are selected by means of digitally controlled switching matrices. In both cases high-Q varactor diodes are used to tune the frequency of the filters. The measured rejection of the stopband filter bank in the notched bands of 500÷600MHz is above 35dBc. The overall volume is within 70x50x10mm

and the maximum power consumption is below 1.5W. The measured insertion loss flatness of the passband filter bank channels is lower than 3dB and the out-of-band attenuation is over 45dBc. The overall footprint is within 100x190x25mm

and the maximum power consumption is below 4W.
