A Power-and Area-Efficient DFE Receiver with Tap Coefficient-rotating Summer for IoT Applications

This paper describes a power-and area-efficient decision-feedback equalizer (DFE) incorporating tap coefficient rotation and DFE summer sharing schemes for use in IoT applications. The proposed receiver can reduce the power consumption and area by having a smaller number of DFE summers and tap coefficient circuits. The proposed DFE receiver was designed in a 28-nm CMOS process, whose evaluation results indicated that it consumed 29.9% less power and 54.5% less layout area than a traditional design at 20-Gbps data rate
