A Highly Efficient Circular Patch Antenna for UAV Application

UAV has gained exclusive attraction to the present world in the field of civilian and military applications. UAV deployment is a matter of tactic for the competitive industries. Research shows that a combined deployment of UAV in the 5G network along with all User Equipment (UEs) is possible with a preplanned methodology. Only 5G and 6G can accommodate such incorporation of load due to enlarging bandwidth and flexible technical advancement. In this research work, a circular patch antenna is proposed with a focus to deploy a UAV in the aforementioned network as a UE. UAV deployment using a patch antenna will provide the opportunity to add more payload as it is lightweight and has ease of fabrication on the PCB or the body. The UAV in the core network will introduce extreme interference. So fixed and dedicated band allocation from the 5G spectrum at deployment tenure can be the best solution. To make a feasible deployment, the proposed patch antenna is designed for frequency bands of 3.8GHz and 5.8 GHz from the 5G lower band. The designed antenna shows the best reflection co-efficient S11 parameter such as −47 dB and −15 dB respectively. The efficiency is close to 99.7 % and more than 95% power is radiated from the antenna in both bands 3.8 GHz and 5.8 GHz. Aforesaid efficiencies lead the antenna as a highly efficient antenna. The antenna possesses a wider bandwidth of more than 1.1 GHz and 1.9 GHz in both bands.
