Design of A Compact Dual band Microstrip Reconfigurable Antenna For WLAN/WiMAX Application

The miniaturized radiating antennas found wide range of application in broadband networking and wireless communications. In the proposed design, the substrate is choosen x Rogers RT/ Duroid 5880 lossy and copper annealed metal patch is used. Integration of two switches on the same antenna radiating surface, changing the current distribution. Change in field distribution makes changes in the frequency to be resonated keeping different position of switches, thereby acting as a reconfigurable radiating antenna at different frequencies. CST®MWS® software platform is selected for the simulation of antenna pattern. The proposed antenna shows voltage standing wave ratio below 2 and the far field radiation pattern with gain value more than 2 is achieved over desired frequency bands. According to the results, the proposed antenna design is helpful for wide range of applications in WLAN, WMAX, Radio navigation.
