Driver Drowsiness Warning Based on Electrocardiosignals Analysis

The aim of the work is to develop a method for processing biomedical signals for on-board systems to warn the driver drowsiness when driving a vehicle. A method for determining the state of drowsiness of a driver based on continuous monitoring of electrocardiosignals (ECS) is proposed and described. The method uses the phenomenon of the relationship between various functional states of the human body and the parameters of heart rate variability (HRV). It was found that the spectral parameters of HRV are the most informative for determining the state of drowsiness. The technique of their calculation with continuous monitoring of the ECS is described. The threshold level of HRV spectral parameters for detecting drowsiness of drivers with a normal heart rate (from 60 to 90 beats / min) was determined. The structural scheme of the driver drowsiness warning device, which implements the proposed method, is presented and described.
