Evaluation of the Effect of the Working Fluid Density on the Characteristics of the Torque Converter

The article presents the results of experimental studies on the quantitative determination of the influence of the physical properties of the working fluid on the external characteristics of the hydrodynamic transformer of a special-purpose vehicle. The object of the study was a lockable hydrodynamic transformer with an axial turbine. The research method is experimental. For the first time, a liquid of increased density – 13FM was used as a working fluid. In the course of the study, the main technical and operational indicators were determined: the operating modes of the hydrodynamic transformer (gear ratio), the value of energy intensity, the transformation coefficient, the efficiency coefficient when using working fluids 13FM and I2OA. In the article, the graphs of the external characteristics of the torque converter clearly show the effect of temperature on the studied values.
