Coverage Hole Repairment for Mobile Wireless Sensor Networks with Simultaneous Multiple Node Deaths

Wireless sensor networks are usually deployed in areas for monitoring. Since the inevitable node deaths (malfunctions) affect the integrity of the monitoring area, the resulting coverage hole repairment has become an important research topic. This paper proposes a coverage hole repair Mechanism, which can consider the situation where multiple sensor nodes die at the same time, the area coverage repair method for sudden node death (Genetic Algorithm based Coverage hole Repair mechanism, GACR). By considering the coverage in the repaired area, the total moving distance of the nodes, and the minimum remaining energy involved in repairing the nodes, the evolution mechanism of GA is combined to find the best moving mode for all participating repair nodes. The simulation results show that GACR has better performance than other compared methods, NIFP and DCHR, while maintaining more than 90% of network coverage time, total moving distance of nodes and remaining energy of the lowest node.
