Toward Characterization of the Feasible Injection Region of Distributed Generations with Different Control Modes

The rapid installation of distributed generation (DG) brings about great challenges to the secure operation of distribution networks due to the uncertainty of injected power. The feasible (power) injection region of distributed generations (FIRDG) is hence proposed to evaluate the feasible injectable power region for distributed generations. In this paper, a complete characterization of the FIRDG taking into account various control schemes of DG in AC power flow equations is developed; hence the FIRDG with exact control models is completely characterized. Numerical results show that the FIRDG varies greatly under different control strategies; especially, it will become larger if the distributed generation reacts according to grid coordinated control.
