A gas balance control system for use with a portable hyperbaric chamber

The authors describe a system of gas-balance control to be used with the Gamow Bag, a portable hyperbaric chamber. A face mask and latex bladder are utilized along with a small amount of tubing to create the proper environment within the chamber. The system is lightweight and efficient, and it requires little effort on the part of those operating the chamber from the outside. Once the chamber is connected and in operation, use of a foot pump to empty the bladder is the only maintenance necessary. A patient can thus be treated for an indefinite time with little effort on the part of his or her companions.<
