A visual comparative analysis of research progress on digital transformation in China and other countries

Digital transformation has become one of the current areas of widespread interest among scholars in China and other countries. This paper uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches to systematically compare and analyze 403 foreign and 302 Chinese literatures from 2008 to 2020 in terms of research foundations, research hotspots and research trends, and to grasp the similarities, differences and development trends of their research progress. The research results show that: (1) In recent years, both China and foreign research as a whole has shown rapid development, but the high citation characteristics of foreign literature are obvious, and there are strong collaborative relationships among scholars, and some cooperative groups have begun to form;(2) Both China and foreign research pay attention to the driving role of digital technology for digital transformation at the technical level, the supporting role of national related strategies at the macro level, and the transformation of enterprises at the micro level;(3) In terms of research trends, the continuity of foreign research content is stronger, the system is in a state of gradual improvement, and more emphasis is placed on the driving role of digital technology. In recent years, China has begun to increase research on data governance. On this basis, this paper elaborates and outlooks future research directions based on four dimensions: Chinese scenario, dual dimension of technology and management, influencing factors and behavioral strategies, common problems and individual needs.
